Dr. Avinash DeSousa holds an impressive set of academic credentials in the field including a degree in Psychiatry; an M Phil in Applied Psychology; MBA in Human Resource Development and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University of Hertfordshire, UK.  He has published in over 440 national and international journals and is the author of 8 books in the area of mental health. He is also the Founder Trustee of Desousa Foundation, a trust that works in the area of mental health awareness across all sectors.  

Radhika Dayal is a Research Associate at the Public Health Foundation of India.  She has worked in multi-disciplinary research initiatives in the field of social determinants of health with a focus on gender and health. Within the field, she contributes to conducting systematic review and developing qualitative assessment tools. Currently, Radhika is leading a review study on the epidemiology and response to child sexual violence in India. Radhika has a post-graduate degree in Sociology from Delhi School of Economics, and an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Delhi University. She has also pursued graduate level coursework in Global Health Research Methodologies and Healthcare Economics from University of Virginia. 

Jonathan Derby is an attorney licensed in California, U.S.A. who has extensive experience in human rights in India. He is the founder of Counsel to Secure Justice, Delhi. After earning his Juris Doctorate degree in 2004 from Pepperdine School of Law, he joined International Justice Mission (IJM) and served on the legal team in their Mumbai field office, which combats sex trafficking and forced prostitution. In 2008 Jonathan was promoted to IJM-Mumbai Field Office Director and led a team of 40 staff.  In April 2012 he moved to Delhi to start Counsel to Secure Justice, an organization which provides legal and psychosocial support during criminal proceedings to survivors of sexual violence.  CSJ began operations in April 2013 and has represented more than 170 clients who have suffered child sexual abuse in Delhi district courts. Based on lessons learned through its casework, CSJ is exploring restorative justice processes to better meet victim needs and holistically address harm caused by sexual abuse.

Karnika Seth is a renowned cyber law expert and Advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India since 2000 and the Founding Partner of Seth Associates in Delhi. In 2015 Ms. Seth authored ‘Protection of Children on the Internet: A guidebook on best practices for online safety with a special focus on India’. She is empanelled as legal expert to advise National Internet Exchange of lndia and the office of Comptroller of Certifying Authorities constituted under the IT Act. 2000. Her views have been solicited by the Parliament and the Ministry of information Technology for strengthening the cyberlaws in India. She was a member of the Expert Consultation Group constituted by the Kerala State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights in 2014 for making recommendations on Legislative and Executive Action required to improve security of children in Cyberspace. You can follow her on Twitter @karnikaseth 

Adv. Emidio Desouza Pinho is the founder of Stop Child Abuse Now (SCAN-Goa). Adv. Emidio studied Law with specialization in Human Rights. He has been working in the area of child welfare since 2003, and serves as the legal consultant to the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (GSCPCR) since 2014. He has successfully lobbied with Government for better implementation of the Goa Children’s Act, Protection of children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Juvenile Justice (care and protection) Act in Goa. Through their work, SCAN Goa has started ‘Going to Court’ program and a ‘Socio Legal Cell’ at the Goa Juvenile Justice Boards. Emidio’s work in child protection received national recognition in 2015 when he received the National Award for Child Welfare at the hands of his Excellency the President of India Shri. Pranab Mukherjee.

Dr. Anja Kovacs directs the Internet Democracy Project in Delhi, which works for an Internet that supports free speech, democracy and social justice in India and beyond. Anja’s research and advocacy focuses especially on questions regarding freedom of expression, cybersecurity and the architecture of Internet governance. She has been a member of the of the Investment Committee of the Digital Defenders Partnership and of the Steering Committee of Best Bits, a global network of civil society members. Prior to focusing her work on the information society, Anja researched and consulted on a wide range of development-related issues. She has lectured at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, UK, and Ambedkar University, Delhi, India, and has conducted extensive fieldwork throughout South Asia. She obtained her PhD in Development Studies from the University of East Anglia in the UK.

Sonal Giani is a proud out bisexual activist, Sonal is better known for featuring on Zee TVs prime time television show 'Connected Hum Tum', Bollywood film 'W' and Documentary 'Purple Skies'. She is the Founder member of popular youth collective "Yaariyan" and "Umang"- a support group for LBT. She currently works as an Creative Associate with Parodevi Pictures. She has worked as the Advocacy Manager of the Humsafar trust for 6 years previously where a large part of her work revolved around human rights activism and handling crisis situation faced by LGBT persons.
